Dog Grooming
Grooming is not just about maintaining your dog’s level of cleanliness, and it is not just about keeping your dog good-looking. Grooming is about maintaining both your dog’s physical health as well as their appearance.
How much grooming a dog needs depends upon its age, breed and health.
The advantages of grooming regularly are:
- decreased chance of various health problems, such as irritations, scratches, and other skin problems
- general cleanliness of the dog
- monitoring of the dog's health by checking for cuts, hot spots, swelling, lameness, all of which could be indicative of illness
- reducing the infestation load of external parasites on skin
- avoid matting that can potentially cause health concerns like skin irritation or the entrapment of harmful bacteria in the coat
All dogs need a regular skin and coat regime, but the frequency of this care will vary depending upon lifestyle and breeds.
Having a ‘spa-day’ at the groomers can be quite exhausting for our dogs, they are used to spending their day playing, napping and pottering around at home. When they come into us, it is about having a bath, drying off, playing with our groomers, having to concentrate and stand still while all this is happening in an exciting new environment.
We have a great team of groomers available in clinic now with Amanda, Jacqui and Molly. Grooming is available at our Greensborough Hospital 4 days per week and at our Rosanna Clinic on Tuesdays, all by appointment.
