- 2.3million households own more than one type of pet
- 65% of Victorian households have a pet
- 40% of Victorians own a dog and 34% of Victorians own a cat
- 65% of pet owners are female
- 12% of households keep fish with an average of 8 fish per household
- 12% keep birds with an average of 3.9 birds per household
- 3% keep reptiles with an average of 1.7 per household
- 3% keep small mammals with an average of 1.9 per household
